Puckish
by Rachel Hoyt
Those who act puckish
act out most every wish
and always have stories to dish
'cuz they're mischevious little fish,
those whimsical creatures - the puckish.

Every week I
rhyme and define a new wacky word.
Come on over to
indulge your inner nerd.
And, please let
me know of any weird words you've heard.
Our Maltese is named Puck
ReplyDeleteand you can guess why
a big ball of chaos
for such a little guy!
We actually named him "Robin Goodfellow" from the play Midsummer Night's Dream. Robin was called "Puck" as a nickname in the play and that's what we call our little mischief maker!
Hehe. Thats a great name for a curious puppy! Thanks for sharing your Puck's story. :-)
DeleteAn imp or an elf? Placed high on the shelf?
ReplyDeleteTo only fall down, and bid mischief abound!
Loved this!
What a cute rhyme, Martha. A bit of puckishness in ya? :-)
DeleteHello.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard this word used before, but it does have a playful quality about it. Nice rhyme! Thanks for sharing.
Goddess Of Fantasy
Thank you, Andy. I'm glad to teach a word to thee. :-)
DeleteI think my son is the walking definition of that word!
ReplyDeleteThose boys can be quite wild and leave us feeling beguiled... :-/
DeleteI may try to use this one.
ReplyDeleteI love this word! I've never heard it before and, like Jack, I intend to use it. Thank you for the introduction. As a note, I never preferred the sound of rhyme until I started studying form, now I'm almost addicted to the challenge of crafting better rhyming poems.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you liked the word! :) I am definitely addicted to rhyming! I'm glad you're catching the bug. Hehe.
DeleteGreat poem! I miss Shel Silverstein, too. This made me think of his poems. And, oh the joy of puckish people when you can experience them from afar, but really annoying if their puckishness is turned on you.
ReplyDeleteI'm honored that my words made you think of Shel. He definitely was puckish. :)
Deletethey are surely mischievious....i knew this word...and puck is surely smiling...
ReplyDeleteI suppose I don't have to stump everyone. :)
DeleteEnjoyed your puckish piece. Visiting today from Poetry Pantry where I just posted my "second chance" poem: Arthur's Seat. Thanks for the great poem and photo.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of that... puckish piece. :) Thanks for visiting.
Delete:)))) I come here just to how you will clever use words and for a smile.
ReplyDeleteAnd I smile every time that you do. :)
DeleteThat was great! I'm off to go share that word with my friend who lives for expansive vocabulary. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for sharing the piece! :)
DeleteThis was fun :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
DeleteAlways so puckish to play with the puckish with whimsy and wit!
ReplyDeleteHehehe. My vim within matches my puckish grin. :)
DeletePuckish, sometimes we have to be. Face our challenges with courge and glee :-) hehe.
ReplyDeleteExactly! :)
Delete...giggle...!
