Something Wooden
by Rachel Hoyt
A pastime that has been around for centuries,
requiring skills not found in fingers, toes or knees.
A way to keep your brain power un-molded.
The very best at this do it blindfolded.

Friday Photo
Fun is when I share a randomly captured moment,
or perhaps a photo experiment with more purposeful intent,
then pair it with a rhyming riddle to exercise your mind
and teach you more weird facts to which you once were blind.

After the
answer is guessed, I will post a second, non-abstract photo...
and just in
case you wanted to know,
the first is not a photoshopped version of the second -
they're shot using different techniques that to me beckon.

Bryan guessed, somewhat blindly,
that chess keeps your brain functioning sprightly.
Nice!
ReplyDeleteThink I'll pass again on this one and let someone else make their move before I jump back in and solve it. ;)
Have a great weekend Rachel!
You're such a sweet, polite game player. :-)
DeleteHave a great weekend Wanda!
Did anyone pick up on my clues in my comment?? "Make their move" "before I jump"... uh huh, uh huh
DeleteHmmm, first I thought it looked kinda like dominoes, but your clues threw me off. Then I thought paddle ball? The "un-molded" has me stumped!
ReplyDeleteUn-molded, not moldy, fresh... :-)
Deleteah, see, I was thinking "un-molded" as unshaped. It was throwing me too.
DeleteChess? Do people play blindfolded chess? Okay, I think I need some sleep.
ReplyDeleteYes, people do play blindfolded chess. That is it. Good job! :) I had no idea about the blindfolded chess until I looked up some fun facts for my riddle. :)
DeleteSeriously? I think I was playing blindfolded chess when I came up with that answer.
DeleteBTW, are there a bunch of creepy eyes in that picture? Or am I seeing things?
LOL. No creepy eyes IN the picture, but perhaps you see them because people were staring at me funny while I was taking it. :P I'll put up the non-abstractified version later tonight so you can see. The wooden chess pieces had metal bases, so that is likely the "eyes" you are seeing. :)
DeleteOh, wow, I had no idea anyone played chess blindfolded! I always learn new, fun facts on your posts, Rachel. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I'm guessing only the true chess lovers knew that some people played blindfolded. What a memory those players must have! :)
DeleteWOW! That's interesting! Glad someone guessed it, because I had no clue! haha
ReplyDelete:) Thanks for visiting to find out the answer! :)
DeleteHello Rachel.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! I would never have guessed this was blindfolded chess! Well done Bryan! It'll be interesting to see the reveal. I'll be back later. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thoughts Of Beauty In The Stillness Of Dawn..
Thank you, Andy! Just for the record, I did not take a picture of blindfolded chess, just the chess board. Just a few more hours 'til I'm home and can post it. :) Happy Friday!
DeleteGlad someone solved it before me, i was on a totally different track, as usual :)
