Friday Photo Fun - Something Relaxing

Something Relaxing
by Rachel Hoyt

A place for relaxation,
Where some reach full elation,
Take their minds on vacation,
Seek elongation,
And inner exploration.

Friday Photo Fun is when I share a randomly captured moment,
or perhaps a photo experiment with more purposeful intent,
then pair it with a rhyming riddle to exercise your mind
and teach you more weird facts to which you once were blind.
After the answer is guessed, I will post a second, non-abstract photo...
and just in case you wanted to know,
the first is not a photoshopped version of the second -
they're shot using different techniques that to me beckon.

So what is this thing that brings relaxation?
I await your guesses with anticipation.

UPDATE:

Bryan White has solved the riddle for today.
A yoga mat is a relaxinig place to play.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Few Fret

Something Few Fret
by Rachel Hoyt

Grime's worst enemy,
A germ's frenemy,
Rough and tough yet,
Something few humans fret.

The Slow Wit Poet has won again
and proved sponges are objects that ARE known to men.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Adorned

Something Adorned
by Rachel Hoyt

A symbol of life, hope and strength,
Something I've adorned at length,
A treasure trove with open air,
Filled with whips we women wear.

M. James has solved this difficult riddle.
It's a jewelry tree. His brain is fit as a fiddle!

Friday Photo Fun - Something Splattered

Something Splattered
by Rachel Hoyt

Both solid and scattered,
Beautifully battered,
Smooth, not tattered,
Imagery splattered.

Jeff wins for three correct answers that weren't THE one
but which described the object as well.
I could've made you all guess more for my personal fun,
but the fact that it's a MOSAIC seems hard to tell.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Powerful

Something Powerful
by Rachel Hoyt

Held the power to grant the right,
In the name of religion to fight -
A symbol of pride to grip tight,
For to lose it was a shameful sight.

It didn't take long for Brian to guess
that a sword created the (above) fuzzy mess.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Influential

Something Influential
by Rachel Hoyt

A habit of which I am not very proud
though it's one that is praised by American crowds.
On the one hand, it's an important part of my health,
on the other it's a symbol of wastefulness and wealth.

It took more than a day, but Bryan figured out
that my use of plastic water bottles makes me want to pout.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Sun Loving

Something Sun Loving
by Rachel Hoyt

Lives life in hopes of touching the sun,
but is satisfied with twelve or less feet of fun.
A single stem beauty composed of many blooms.
Full of the nectar its lover, the bee, consumes.

that Sunflowers were the abstractified object of the day.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Selfish

Something Selfish
by Rachel Hoyt

A seemingly innocent act,
to which you shouldn't overreact,
but which could cause one innocent life
quite a bit of undeserved strife.

is fun for humans but can harm bark quite badly.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Colorful

Something Colorful
by Rachel Hoyt

The inventor of this thing created 5,000 types of glass
and paid his male employees equal to each lass.
He charged a hefty sum to those who liked his work
but paid enough to artisans to not get called a jerk.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Wooden

Something Wooden
by Rachel Hoyt

A pastime that has been around for centuries,
requiring skills not found in fingers, toes or knees.
A way to keep your brain power un-molded.
The very best at this do it blindfolded.

Bryan guessed, somewhat blindly,
that chess keeps your brain functioning sprightly.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Swinging

Something Swinging
by Rachel Hoyt

This item has a much longer history than many know.
Many probably buy them solely for a pretty show,
Yet once upon a time they were used for protection,
To send evil spirits running the other direction.

wind chimes were the item of which I speak.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Saved

Something Saved
by Rachel Hoyt

(The item in this abstract photo is an antique bowl made with the item described in the riddle.
Can you guess what my great great uncle chose to save though it would seem to be worth piddle?

Rumored to have been invented to protect
white gloves of fair maidens (who's opinions they'd usually neglect).
At the time, the fine thing it adorned
wasn't an enjoyment for which people were scorned.

who could figure out the answer was the band/label on a cigar.

Friday Photo Fun - Something in Landscape

Something in Landscape
by Rachel Hoyt

They decorate the landscape around a music hall
named for a man who animated smiles for all.
It's color is calming, loving and lovely.
In 2005 it was California's 'it' tree.

Without her plant knowledge we
might never see
the answer to this riddle ditty!

due to his massive love for chilis.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Antique

Something Antique
by Rachel Hoyt

Invented around the same time as instant coffee,
cellophane and Life Savers candy.
They're helpful for saving time and energy.
I use my modern one quite frequently.

So, what's in this snap I took at an antique store?
Can you guess which thing I couldn't ignore?

Bryan guessed the right answer was toaster.
He wins the right to be a boaster.
