Smiley Sociology Study #11 - Gifts

I find in December it's hard not to think about

gifts I loved and / or could have lived without,

items most likely to be re-gifted or returned,

and the silly things for which I once yearned.

So, I've made gifts the theme for this month's study

in hopes you have a story for me, your blog buddy.

Use the gift giving theme however you like...

perhaps share the memory of receiving your first bike?

You have the whole month to write something creative...

or perhaps you prefer to share something contemplative?

I'll use your posts next month for my inspiration

and share your links within a rhyming study summation.

Smiley Sociology Study #10 - Doors and Windows

They say when one door closes a window opens.

That's the theme for the study this month my friends.

You can regale me with examples of this proverb come true,

be it about another or something that happened to you.

You could share photos of beautiful windows and doors

including pathways leading to them and pretty floors.

You can trace the history of that phrase and it's validity

or dream up another way to fit the theme and surprise me.

You have the month of November to post something link in.

Next month, after I've analyzed all your posts,

I'll write my own rhyme and link to the entries I liked most.

Smiley Sociology Study #9 - It's Book Review Time

This month I'm writing my first book review,

so I thought I'd make you write one too

unless, of course, you've already reviewed one

and don't have time to write another 'cuz you're busy having fun!

Who knows if anything sociological will be concluded

but into my mind this theme sharply protruded

as a way to encourage book gifting through the holidays

and give our fellow writers the kind of advertising that pays.

Remember, although it can be, your post need NOT be poetry.

Bloggers of all types may use Mister Linky.

I only ask that you stick to this month's chosen theme,

read others' post and leave comments (that aren't mean).

Next month, after I've analyzed all your posts,

I'm a bit late starting, but thought September would be

a great month for returning to my Smiley Sociology Studies.

This month I'd like to read posts about rare animals...

One that was kept as a pet by some late cannibals?

One that is only known to smarty pants like yourself?

One that can only be bought illegally with great wealth?

One which only exists one place, quite far from the city?

One which you'd mourn if it no longer lived to roam free?

Smiley Sociology Study #5 - NaPoWriMo 2011

In a moment of possible brief insanity,

potentially beneficial for humanity,

I decided to join in NaPoWriMo 2011,

hoping the rhymes flow from me like manna from heaven.

Since it will dominate my April, I thought I'd do

a Smiley Sociology Study of poetry theme too.

Normally I don't require the subject or style of poetry,

but this month, one or the other's what I want to see.

So link up your posts here for NaPoWriMo,

Or just write up one or share a poem you know...

Or perhaps you want to read and critique others?

Maybe some prose on the event is more your druthers?

However your poetry themed post is written,

if you'd link it up here, I'd really be smitten.

I'll do my best to reach some sociological conclusion

World Poetry Day

Today is World Poetry Day!
I simply must shout out "Hooray!".
Won't you please share with me
your favorite piece of poetry?
Or just something creative and fun
to inspire me to write a similar one.
I love to read poems and mimic their form.
