Friday Fun Day - Crambo aka Bouts Rimés

Let's try my new game again...  Bouts Rimés means "rhymed ends" in French and is a game or challenge where one person (me) makes a list of rhymed words and others (you) write the lines that end with those rhymes, in the same order in which they were given.  It was known as Crambo in English and was quite popular in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.  I think we need to bring back this hip historical habit, so I will post this game when I need a break from rhyming riddles and abstract photography.  I hope you enjoy the change of game!

(If you would like to use this photo of my cat Sammy with your poem and post it to your blog, please include a photo credit and link to my blog within your post.  Thank you.)

Thursday Thoughts - Amazon Kindle Content and Account Access

Pocket Garden
by Rachel Hoyt

She lost the garden in her pocket -
One which she loved to explore.

She lost the garden in her pocket.
It was not forgotten on some floor.

She lost the garden in her pocket.
The groundskeeper said that she was banned.

She lost the garden in her pocket -
Now her library is a vacant book stand.

She lost the garden in her pocket -
Guts stolen, replaced with pocket lint.

She lost the garden in her pocket -
Canned contract speak her only hints.

She lost the garden in her pocket
But didn't enjoy life by herself.

She lost the garden in her pocket -
So she grew a forest on her shelf.

This chant poem was inspired by news of a woman whose Kindle was wiped
and whom Amazon banned without explanation (because she griped?).

Chitter Chatter on Early Employment

Image by Felixico, Inc. via freedigitalphoto.net.

Individuals inherit identities in innocent imitation
earning early employers' esteem via emulation.
Employment ethics ingrained everyday everywhere
instigate idiosyncrasies into infant workers who care.

The minutia my mannerisms mimicked and mastered,
when waitressing weekends watching after the ill mannered...
monitoring moods, menus, meals, money and myself,
wondering when wonderfulness was thrown from the shelf...
resulted in rave reviews regarding responsibilities
and remain resourceful reflexes 'round work randomly.

Cheeky customers who cherished chitter chatter
brought banter befit for the beloved Mad Hatter.
Counting up chump change careless kids called courteous
blossomed belief benevolence beats behaving bogus.

I learned mountains from molehills meddle with your mood.
I realized that ridiculous reasons can make people real rude.
I memorized many mouthfuls of menu mumbo jumbo
until restaurants ruined my restfulness and I felt like Rambo.
I had to turn the tables - become a customer - live life tip free.
Now for those who serve me, I tip for all they put up with, with glee.
