A Rhyming Prayer for Easter

I feel it is time to change the focus of Rhyme Me a Smile. While I may highlight news articles as inspiration occasionally, my poetry has become an integral part of my spiritual journey and I feel called to begin sharing those thoughts here. The poem below was inspired by my discovery of New Thought (a spiritual belief system) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to which its adherents subscribe.

Make Me a Twinkling Star
by Rachel Hoyt

I wish upon the stars tonight.
I pray I may,
I hope I might,
Give the world
All love and light,
Help push darkness
Out of sight -
Kill with kindness,
Accept fright,
Cherish oneness,
Sparkle bright.

I wish to spread your Divine light,
To twinkle for you day and night.

  1. Every poet needs a reader
A set of eyes to take the lines a level deeper
    And here,
    I'd be caught lyin'
If I was found to be denyin'
    The hop in my heart
When I looked to the right frame
    And saw you'd been writin'!

    1. Thanks Brian! Every poet definitely needs a reader and I'm grateful I have you. :)

Rhyming or not, I would like a lot to hear the thoughts my words brought...
