Something Influential
by Rachel Hoyt
A habit of which I am not very proud
though it's one that is praised by American crowds.
On the one hand, it's an important part of my health,
on the other it's a symbol of wastefulness and wealth.

Friday Photo
Fun is when I share a randomly captured moment,
or perhaps a
photo experiment with more purposeful intent,
then pair it with a rhyming riddle to exercise your mind
and teach you more weird facts to which you once were blind.

After the
answer is guessed, I will post a second, non-abstract photo...
and just in case you wanted to know,
the first is not a photoshopped version of the second -
they're shot using different techniques that to me beckon
It took more than a day, but Bryan figured out
that my use of plastic water bottles makes me want to pout.

You are getting your hair colored at an expensive hair salon?
ReplyDeleteNo. I don't color my hair... this is a much more basic thing to do for your health. :)
DeleteHow about a manicure or pedicure? BTW, I'm loving getting your postcards! It's always a surprise to brighten my day!
ReplyDeleteIt is not a salon service, but the ladies at salons often keep this basic everyday thing with them.
DeleteI'm so glad you like the postcards! It is time to start coming up with the next one. :)
i'm stumped -- although i find the other comments humorous! since when are hair coloring and manicures for your 'health'? haha!
ReplyDeletemy friday moment is also dedicated to health -- i wonder if ours are related:

Hehe. I was thinking the same thing! Hair coloring and manicures for your health. I'm sure some women around here think that. I mean, they would have much less self esteem without it. LOL.
DeleteWell, since you don't color your hair how about flossing your teeth? A roll of dental floss?
ReplyDeleteIt is not dental floss, but it is something I put in my mouth... and, the vessel is to blame for my shame... :P
DeleteHello Rachel.
ReplyDeleteI came by in the wee hours of this morning but was too tired to comment. I'm stumped, but I like to have a guess...now if it's not dental floss, you're way too young for dentures (LOL), so I'll say retainer.
No... but THANK YOU for coming to take a guess Andy!
DeleteEveryone's guesses are still pretty far off. Remember, it is something you consume (use up) through your mouth, with the help of various vessels (containers) and is good for your health.
Well, since no one's guessed it yet, I'm just going to use up my second lifeline and say toothbrush!
DeleteNo... this item benefits your whole body, not just your teeth, in a very basic, elemental way... :)
DeleteWhat are vitamin B12 energy shots...the kind that come in the little bottles?
ReplyDeleteThis guess is much, much, MUCH closer to the correct one... but still not the exact right one. :)
DeleteMouth wash?
ReplyDeleteNope, but you're right that its a liquid in a plastic container... Though it is not always in plastic.

DeleteSun screen?
DeleteNo, not sun screen. You put sunscreen in your mouth Bryan? We've got to talk. :)
DeleteWhoops. Forgot that part.
DeleteThis a real stumper! Something healthy and indulgent at the same time? And you consume it? Hmmmm....
Bottled Water?
DeleteYesssssssss. :-) I'm glad someone finally got it. :-)
Deleteits a vitamin of some sort i imagine...how about E
ReplyDeleteNo... It is even more elemental than vitamin E,
Deleteto live and breathe, a basic necessity.
The reason I'm embarrased of the habit
is due to the vessel in which I often have it.
Dear Rachel,
ReplyDeleteThat must be some special water you drink! I on the other hand prefer plain and simple...although I do have it filtered, thanks to Brita! LOL
I drink britta water at home most of the time. There is nothing but bottled water at work though, so I still end up wasting my fair share of plastic. :-(
Deleteah wish i would have jumped back to see your reply....wow...i still probably would not have guessed it...ha...
ReplyDeleteHehe. No worries. I leave the hints in the replies to help any and all who come after. :)
DeleteOkay...kudos to Brian!! I would have never guessed this...of course, the story of my life LOL. Great image!
