The Brains of Humans and Dogs are Similar

Canine Cortex
by Rachel Hoyt

A vortex of sounds
daily trickle down
on man and man's best friend -
A cortex the grounds
where vibrations drown
and learn which needs to tend -
The vertex? A look,
proof each cortex shook
and needs his love to mend.

  1. Very cool! I had been reading about this--very clever poem with all the "exes" matching :-)

    1. Thanks! I was pretty excited to find a matching 'ex that fitted what I wanted to say in the third couplet. :)

  2. I've always thought so. Still, one of my favourite cartoons is the Farside one where the owner is yelling at the dog and the caption says, 'This is what your dog actually hears'. "$^& Bingo! ^%$%$ % $%$% Bingo #$@#$ $ $%$ ^&%^"

  3. Hi Rachel, lovely poem. I laughed as every dog owner knows that anyway. We don't need a study for that. Thanks for sharing. Take care Bee

Rhyming or not, I would like a lot to hear the thoughts my words brought...
