Finnimbrun
by Rachel Hoyt
A hand wrapped finnimbrun
is a present some would shun
because it could 'fit' anyone
and was likely bought 'under the gun',
hoping the sentiment would weigh a ton
and shroud a trinket with glamour and fun,
make you the envy of everyone,
for wisely gifting knick-knacks, finnimbrun.

Every week I rhyme and define a new wacky word.
Come on over to indulge your inner nerd.
And, please let me know of any weird words you've heard.
i dunno..i have a whole bowl of them...little treasures i look at with my sons...
ReplyDeleteI too am a fan of little things many others wouldn't want to keep. I even save receipts, labels, ticket stubs, etc. in my journal. I wrote this thinking of those knicknacks you don't want to toss (because you like the person who gave it to you) but for which you've never been able to find a spot on the shelf. I love them but I have a really small apartment. :)
DeleteWow Rachel, I do the same thing. Lots of old movie stubs, hand written letters, get well cards, goodbye cards, etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteAlso love collecting knick-knacks from various places though I've lately fallen into just collecting coffee mugs.
I'm weird.
I'm glad to know someone else collects everything like I do. :)
DeleteI'm brimming with laughter over this word! Kinda sounds like you just came back from getting novacained by the dentist--what do you need? "finnimbrum," I'm sorry, I didnt' get that..."finnimbrum!" I too am a collector of little things, a zipper tab that I liked, seashells, little rocks...it's fun to have finnimbrum :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is quite a funny sounding word, right? :P I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.
