Pokey is
three toed and green,
turtle, super lean and never mean.
Queen of this castle. Never causes a hassle.
Wishes for jaccuzis, kisses, and worm filled dishes.
Shows wisdom in her eyes deeper than her shell size.
Dances to rock 'n roll.
Embodies an old soul.
The above poem was written for my turtle Pokey who I've had since I was 15 years old. I also recently revived the blog I once started in her honor, Pokey's Pals. Come on over to see some turtle news, photos, videos, and more.

ReplyDelete@Wanda - yes, there is a whole class of box turtles that are called three toed box turtles. Not all turtles have three toes, but my little gal does. :)
I seen the link to the other blog on Facebook a while back. "Pokey" is a perfect name for turtle.
ReplyDeleteI love the form! Great post...what an adorable turtle!
ReplyDelete@Bryan - Of course you saw my Pokey's Pals notice on facebook. You're a good stalker. :)

How cute! "Wishes for jaccuzis, kisses, and worm filled dishes.
ReplyDelete" Every body, every thing has it's dreams, huh?
@tbaoo - Funny you should say that. Box turtles are amazing escape artists. I don't recommend an outdoor enclosure if you want them to stick around. :-)
ReplyDelete@KD - turtles are definitely a big commitment. Though, i thimk there may be a brawl over who gets Pokey when I go. :-)
@Judy - yep. We all have dreams. Jaccuzi is what I call Pokeys warm baths. :-)
Love it! So glad I finally got to meet Pokey. I'd love to see her dance.
