If I was not a meat eater at this time of year
I would wish for my own pet wild turkey.
I'd train him to be nice but make people fear
eating tofurkey without looking perky.
Turkeys may drop dead from deafening noise
and risk drowning themselves in the rain,
but if Ben Franklin had gotten his first bird choice
they would be too patriotic to be slain.
Their survival instincts have saved them thus far.
Or, is it their ability to reproduce repeatedly?
When you gobble to announce proudly who you are
is it fair to wonder, "Why oh why would they eat me?"

That is hilarious. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same with rabbits, I had a pet rabbit once and when my grandad made rabbit stew I cried for weeks. I don't really like turkey but I cook it for everyone else. I'm now thinking of getting one for a pet and then I won't ever have to cook one again :)

Joy always,

Funny, hilarious even, video but I don't think this was shown on American TV. Or was it? Anyway, great pick. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and don't skewer any turkeys - just roast 'em. :)

Happy Thanksgiving...
I am pretty sure the turkey tea-bagged him at the end there.
ReplyDeletePretty smart turkey there...I don't think he has to worry about ending up on anyone's table LOL.
ReplyDeleteBeing a turkey-lover...as in 'with mashed potatoes and gravy'...all I can say is "everyone has a job in life to do". Unfortunately for the bird, it probably is not his choice. Certainly, not this ones anyhow :)
