Something Sparkly
by Rachel Hoyt
I would've seen my face if I'd looked,
But staring at the strings had me hooked,
A bit of seventies inspired decor,
To illuminate an arty wine store,
Similar things hang in some people's doorways,
Mostly during their college party phase.
So what is this abstract-ified decor?
I await your guesses, scoffs and more!

Friday Photo Fun is when I share a randomly captured
moment,
or perhaps a
photo experiment with more purposeful intent,
then pair it
with a rhyming riddle to exercise your mind
and teach you
more weird facts to which you once were blind.
Streamers....
ReplyDeleteA bead curtain?
ReplyDeleteThose curtains that hang between doorways...forgot what they are specifically called!
ReplyDeleteI too don't know what they are called...they are curtains with beads, tubes and rings.
ReplyDeleteYou ladies are all in the right track! Someone made this piece of decor using a bead curtain...
ReplyDeleteStrobe ball, streamers, rainbow door, bead thingy
ReplyDeleteAnd that's all I have or a ringy..haha
Planning on attending college in West Virginia in my crazier stage of life, I actually knew what this was LOL. I just didn't know what it was called, but spent many of days going through them ☺
ReplyDeleteEVERYONOE IS SORT OF ON THE RIGHT TRACK... This piece of decor was likely handmade by someone and does indeed use a BEAD CURTAIN look. There is more to the full answer though as it is no longer a bead curtain.
ReplyDeleteSomething everyone has in every room...
A chandelier?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go ahead and give it to you. It's a mirrored beaded curtain lampshade which looks an awful lot like a chandelier. Great job, Wanda! I did not think anyone would figure this one out so fast. :) :)
DeleteThank you Rachel. I noticed your comment went to my test blog instead of my actual blog which is...
Deletehttp://tailfeatherchronicles.blogspot.com
I would transfer it to the other blog but I'm not sure if I can. I grabbed you button, stop by and check it out.
I will come check out the other blog too. :)
Deletehmmm, I had one that was made into a really cool hanging shelf once a 3 tier with mirrors for the shelves, I have seen them made into wall hangings combined with macrame, chair covers as well. Not sure how this fits the clue but it is all I can come up with.
ReplyDeleteI'm giving "the win" to Wanda this week. (see above) xoxo
DeleteI'd guess it's a bead curtain.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Rachel... I tagged you!

It's a mirrored beaded curtain covered lampshade. :) Thanks for the tag... whatever that is. :)
DeleteI have no idea what it is but I want one ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL. :)
DeleteHello.
ReplyDeleteI would never have guessed bead curtain, but I'm laughing because I think my 80-year old mom still has them where she lives! Good one! Thanks as always.
Hehe. I love that your mom still has beaded curtains. :)
DeleteRachel:
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should offer a less-abstract version after the true answer has been guessed -- I want to see this 'mirrored beaded curtain lampshade which looks an awful lot like a chandelier'!!! I think I want one ;-)
Awww, I knew someone was going to say that. I didn't think to take a non-abstract photo while I was there (as is often the case). I will keep trying to remember for the future.
DeleteLoved reading all these great guesses and comments. Again, a great Friday moment, Rachel!
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha. I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

ReplyDeleteI'm bad at this. If no clues were given, I would think this was a spiderweb lol! And yes, I also want to see the less abstract version of that photo! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I'm pretty sure I forgot to take a non-abstract photo. I'm going to check tonight when I'm home from work...
Delete"...a mirrored beaded curtain covered lampshade."
ReplyDeleteI was going to guess something like that loose Christmas tinsel type stuff that you see hanging year round in random places. Can I get partial credit for that? (and half the prize money, which to my reckoning comes out to be $500.00 ;D )
What? Someone donated prize money? Well, as soon as I get it, we can talk about how it will be distributed. :P
DeleteWow I got the beaded curtain part but never would've guessed lampshade....amazing...As always...XOXOXOXOXO

DeleteRachel~ We were in a wonderful Santa Fe gallery where black silk string was used as the window covering. I think the 70's trend is resurgent.
ReplyDeleteOooh, black silk string sounds pretty. :)
