Josh from "Its Tiger Time" invented You Tube Tuesday so we could each share one video a week which we found to be fun, inspiring or otherwise noteworthy. If you choose to participate, don't forget to leave your links in my comments section (so I can come visit you) and on Josh's page (so you can be part of the contest). I hope you like this week's selection!
I have pretty much successfully predicted the past 5 Presidential elections. The only one I was a little "ify" on was the 2000 Bush & Gore race, and you see how close that turned out. I took one look at John Kerry and knew he wasn't Presidential material. I knew John McCain was too out of touch. There was a brief moment of uncertainty when he brought Sarah Palin in, and then we she started to talk and well... the rest is history.
So, my prediction? I'm guessing that Mitt Romney will probably get the Republican nomination (I can't always guess the primaries.) However, unless there's some 11th hour dark horse candidate, I don't see any of the candidates that the Republicans are putting up at this point actually going all the way to the White House. Seems to me that dethroning an incumbent President takes someone who really captures the public spirit. Clinton is the only one who has done it my lifetime! And look at Bush in '04. Most of the country was sick of him by then, but I knew that NOBODY was going to replace him with Kerry. Wasn't going to happen.
So, mark my words and remember this comment, I'm saying that it's probably going to be Romney against Obama, but regardless of who runs against him, Obama will most likely get a second term.
I totally agree with your predictions and am also happy to keep Obama. I'm pretty close to center on a lot of beliefs, so in theory a Republican could attract my attention... BUT, man oh man are the nominees poor this time!
Well I am glad the insiders in the country see it this way even though European and its probably none of my business ~ I agree :-) I think he definitely deserves a second one anyway
Thank you Rachel for highlighting the three 'GOP stooges'. What's scarier about them and their unflexible tunnel views that would re-direct our country backwards vs progress on social issues, religion and international politics) are the 'blind' followers, reference to the choice of being woefully uninformed).
Well, I didn't really intend to spark a political debate. I think people from both parties are a little disappointed with his character... and I thought the song was funny. :)
Rachel, this obviously is not a topic I should comment on without prompting political argument. I am not by any means an Obama fan and I feel what he is doing to our constitution is a shame. I'm not much satisfied with our Republican candidates, but at this point, anyone will be better for me than Obama. Another four years of him in the presidency will only leave us closer to a socialized state. If I wanted to live like that, I would have moved to another country. The video is cute in its making, but I also like to think there are two sides to a story and give both sides the benefit of doubt.
Mary, I definitely think there is more to Newt than the info in this video... I certainly don't want to start writing rhymes about the actual politics because there are valid thoughts on both sides. I do find this tidbit about his life funny though. I am sorry if I offended. xo
Happy Tuesday ~ thanks for this one (as the BBC News constantly show us all the candidates and their speeches ect I even knew what it was all about ;-)!
I'm glad you were able to enjoy it! You are probably more informed than many Americans. :) I mentioned Newt to someone at work a few weeks back and they didn't know who he was... at all. :o/
I don't see that guy EVER being President.

YouTube Tuesday #9
I'm glad you liked it Andy! Either most of my readers are democrats or my theory that many on both sides are upset with Newt was correct. :)
