Amidst the wreckage in Joplin
an elephant is trompin'...
'cuz the Piccadilly Circus crew
chose to stay and help too.
Tonight my hat's off to them,
the kind women and men,
who spread smiles for a living
whether circus-ing or giving.

What if you hat is off and a monkey steals it
ReplyDeleteWould you have a fit
You'd have to get the big toed man
Or the ghostly looking guy with no tan
Or a scary clown
One that has a happy face not a frown
To get after the monkey before he scats
And your stuck chasing the dancing rats
Oh but you could get on the trapize
And go weak in the knees
Then you might go splat
And never get your hat
Might have to sneak past the lions, tigers and bears oh my
One chomp from them and you could die
Boy don't you want to make that monkey fry
For stealing your hat and making you cry..lol
But yes it's great that they are there to give
As some do nothing more than live and let live
I got two for the price of one here :)
ReplyDeleteso I clapped and then gave a little cheer
and say thank you as I bow down low
I really would love to stay but I have to go :(

@Pat - I am kinda mad at that monkey now! I knew he was going to mess with me somehow. :)
ReplyDelete@SJ - I assume you are referring to Pat Hatt, my new rhyming friend. His comments are entertaining me to no end. :)
@Alejandro - I too love that they sweep poo! I want my own elephant too. :)
Good story, good poem. :)
ReplyDelete@Madeleine - Thanks! I love sharing this kind of story. So sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteYou made me smile,
ReplyDeleteAnd made my brain run a mile,
To sleep in sands and run through waves,
Until I skid disheveled to the grave!
