Something Antique
by Rachel Hoyt
Invented around the same time as instant coffee,
cellophane and Life Savers candy.
They're helpful for saving time and energy.
I use my modern one quite frequently.
So, what's in this snap I took at an antique store?
Can you guess which thing I couldn't ignore?

Friday Photo Fun is when I share a randomly captured
moment,
or perhaps a
photo experiment with more purposeful intent,
then pair it with a rhyming riddle to exercise your mind
and teach you more weird facts to which you once were blind.
then pair it with a rhyming riddle to exercise your mind
and teach you more weird facts to which you once were blind.
After the
answer is guessed, I will post a second, non-abstract photo,
and just in
case you wanted to know,
the first is
not a photoshopped version of the second -
they're shot
using different techniques that to me beckon.
Ummm I have no idea, a watch?
ReplyDeleteNo... You can't wear it, but it is shiny. :-)
DeleteThanks for getting the guessing started for me! :-P
A toaster?
ReplyDeleteA vacuum cleaner?
Ding - ding - ding!! It's a toaster. :) :) Congrats!
DeleteBOOM! Right out of the box. Oh yeah! Whooooo!!!
DeleteI was thinking that you snapped a great pic of the Horsehead Nebula or that's what ot appears to me. Toaster was my second guess ;)

David, I'm all giggles right now... "toaster was my second guess" :) thank you for the laugh!
DeleteRachel -- I love the way you have turned an art form which is generally considered to be 'realistic' by nature, photography, into an abstract art form ;-)

Linda, THANK YOU! :) It has been quite an experience for me. I learned the techniques in an article I read at Christmas time about cool ways to photograph lights. I love it more every time I do it and it amazes me because I was never a fan of abstract art. I didn't get it until now. :) xo
DeleteI'd love to read that article if you still have access to it.
DeleteExploring photography as an abstract art form has been a long-term interest of mine, also, as in this example: http://www.dangerouslinda.com/?p=107
Thanks!
PS My 'Friday Moment' this week was inspired by a post you did last year introducing me to cascarĂ³nes -- XOXO
Sorry, I should have included the link before! Here is how to make art while photographing christmas lights. :)
DeleteI can never get it Rachel. What is it?
ReplyDeleteIt is a toaster. You can see it better in the second shot. :)
DeleteI would never have guessed that :)
ReplyDelete:) smiles. You can't guess off the picture for this one.
DeleteMy dear Rachel,
ReplyDeleteI would say it is a watch?? Oh well, will wait for the answer. Thanks for sharing and having so much fun with this.I like it!!
The answer is already up? It's a toaster. I guess the way the colors transformed in the photo really confused everyone. :) xo
DeleteFun post. I'd never have guessed!
ReplyDeleteThanks! This was a tough riddle for sure. Many of them are not as tough. :)
DeleteSo cool and your right what would we do without a toaster ! thanks for sharing x x
