Ennui
by Rachel Hoyt
I strive to be
the antidote to ennui -
to help your brain stay cheery
so you won't sit listlessly,
wasting away the day
bored in every way.
Though ennui sounds cool to say,
only Seinfeld could make nothingness pay.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading. :)
DeleteSome days blogging makes me ennui
ReplyDeletesearching for words for a comment
can be downright screwy, for me..
so instead I take a nice long walk
and get me some vitamin D.... WHOOPEE!!
Walk are great for ennui.
DeleteAt least, they work for me.
:)
Another one of my favorite words!!
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! I'm glad to help people talk llike you. :)
DeleteWhat's the deal with ennui? Was feeling some myself until I read this, and a Seinfeld reference as well, awesome:)
ReplyDeleteI felt Seinfeld deserved that reference. :) :)
DeleteI love this words!!! Never heard of this one before--I think.
ReplyDeleteUgh--grammar popo! *THESE words*
ReplyDeleteLOL. Grammar popo. :)
DeleteNever heard this one
ReplyDeleteBut thanks to my fun
And being crazy
I never ennui or lazy
:)
DeleteNo ennui at Pat Hatt's house
'cuz there's always games of cat and mouse.
:)
Hello Rachel.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually a word I know. Seinfeld is one sitcom I love & can watch over and over. Thanks for sharing.
I'm hosting my first Blog Hop Saturday! this Saturday May 5th from 8:00am-8:00pm EST. Hope you can join the fun.
Also, if you're interested in contributing a line of poetry in 15 words or less, check out my new blog Lovers' Cove...it's my collaboration blog with a twist!
Thanks for the invites, Andy! Unfortunately, I've got 8 of my 30 goals for April to finish still this weekend, so I don't know... :o/
DeleteOh, the first word in your marvelous series that I actually knew!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your clever poem, Rachel - just super!

DeleteDidn't know this one! I don't think I've known any of the other ones either! Great little word! And loved the reference to Seinfield! haha so true! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're learning and having fun! :)
DeleteIsn't it a wonderful thing, to play with words. Lovely :)
ReplyDeleteYes, wind chimes are very therapeutic to listen to, especially deep toned ones.
I do have extra fun with the wacky word play. :)
DeleteAnd, I do enjoy the low toned wind chimes. :)
Always did like this word. Great idea to devote a poem to a specific word and rhyme around it. Nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Chris! I'm glad you like the concept. :) :)
DeleteAlways an enjoyable read! Love this word as well!
ReplyDeleteThank you Audry! Always enjoy having you visit. :)
Deletehaha so true on seinfeld...i enjoyed that bit of nothingness though...and ennui is in you eye...perhaps bit on perspective...ha...
ReplyDeleteGot ennui? LOL :P
DeleteA noble goal. After all--there's nothing worse than to spend one's precious time in boredom!
ReplyDeleteBoredom is only nice after being really, really busy... and then they call it rest. :)
DeleteYou put a smile on face for sure,I love the picture of the dog that I came to your site a few times showing my friends. Who love your wit as so do I. Smiles and Blessings

Seinfeld is the king of ennui. :)
DeleteNot only well-crafted, but clever in message as well. Nicely done.

thank you, Kim. :) That comment feels like an A+. :)
DeleteThis is very fun and the picture is cool. I have a chihuahua who is the epitome of laziness, though ennui is a bit harsh for him! :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL. Please tell your chihuahua I meant no offense. :) :)
