Thursday Thoughts - The Harlem Shake

Shake Scolding
by Rachel Hoyt

You're doing it wrong,
I'm sorry to say,
Don't air hump the song,
Hips should hardly sway.

The move's up higher,
It's a shoulder thing,
Only a trained squire,
Knows the spaz to bring!

Stop screwing it up please,
You're hurting my eyes,
Your crowns should be seized,
They're based upon lies.

Wacky Word Wednesday - Jannock

Jannock
by Rachel Hoyt

Is a trustworthy bloke,
Won't steal when broke,
Hides behind no cloak,
Kind since he awoke -
The genuine jannock.

Thursday Thoughts - On Curing Homelessness

A Swede Strategy
by Rachel Hoyt

image by Mantas Ruzveltas via freedigitalphotos.net

Removing park benches is just so last year,
Demanding proof of need makes some live in fear,
But creating a commercial need for their spots?
Some crazy Swede thinks it's a win for both lots.

They hope to convince the hostel loving crowd,
That they aren't really living their lives out loud -
Abandoned warehouses and sports stadiums,
Are the place to stay if one's dreading doldrums.

Bravo Swede Shack Pimp, you ground grabber you -
Now everything costs the way it's supposed to,
No sacred spot's safe from capitalist goons,
Taking while teaching we savage buffoons.

I don't believe there's a cure for homelessness
but the Swedes seem to think they've figured out this mess.

The rantipole.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Few Fret

Something Few Fret
by Rachel Hoyt

Grime's worst enemy,
A germ's frenemy,
Rough and tough yet,
Something few humans fret.

Friday Photo Fun is when I share a randomly captured moment,
or perhaps a photo experiment with more purposeful intent,
then pair it with a rhyming riddle to exercise your mind
and teach you more weird facts to which you once were blind.

After the answer is guessed, I will post a second, non-abstract photo...
and just in case you wanted to know,
the first is not a photoshopped version of the second -

they're shot using different techniques that to me beckon.

So what is this thing that few fret?
You all can guess this one I bet.

UPDATE:

The Slow Wit Poet has won again
and proved sponges are objects that ARE known to men.

Thursday Thoughts - Humans Came From Rats?!

Rat Rant
by Rachel Hoyt

image by Victor Habbick via freedigitalphotos.net

Please no, not a rat,
Anything but that,
Even a gnat,
Or an ugly bat,
But not that -
I come from no rat.

I like monkeys,
Can't I come from these
Primates that please,
Fur balls at ease -
Can't I come from these?
I like monkeys.

So what if they're tough?
They're ugly - no fluff,
No sparkle, all scruff -
I wish this was a bluff.
I've got sparkle and fluff,
Don't want to be that tough.

A man who is uxorious,
Makes his gal's life luxurious -

Friday Photo Fun - Something Adorned

Something Adorned
by Rachel Hoyt

A symbol of life, hope and strength,
Something I've adorned at length,
A treasure trove with open air,
Filled with whips we women wear.

M. James has solved this difficult riddle.
It's a jewelry tree. His brain is fit as a fiddle!

Thursday Thoughts - On the Superhero Within Each of Us

My Super Self
by Rachel Hoyt

image by Jeroen van Oostrom via freedigitalphotos.net

I know my Super Self's in there -
He prob'ly is just tired.
I'm actually nice.  I really care.
I just haven't conspired
To help every sad soul I see -
That would take my whole day.
We will just have to let things be -
Life's busy, come what may.
I can't watch out for every gran
Who needs to cross the road.
I won't smile at the scruffy man -
He'll ask me to unload
My spare powers in his coin pile,
Though my purse is quite light.
Villains will hide, try to beguile,
All those who shine more bright.
I don't have time to hold open
Doors or clean up spills.
I must get places on the when,
No time for super thrills.
Yet I know in the moment,
My Super Self would fight.
I like to think he's resting gent-
ly 'til the time is right.

Friday Photo Fun - Something Pretty

Something Pretty
by Rachel Hoyt

A work of art that's carefully plotted,
Shaded, colored, lined, and dotted,
An image to guide our journey,
These days, they're mostly just, "Pretty."

Both Jody and Jeff unjumbled my riddle
and realized a map was the pretty thing that looked like diddle.
