Saturday AM TV

There once was a talking sponge named Bob.
My valuable braincells he attempted to rob.
I can see why he makes little kids laugh and play.
Still I wish there was better AM TV on Saturday.

This poem was written because LOL Prompts inspired me.

I'm also sharing it in the Poetry Pantry,

  1. I agree with that SpongeBob is pretty vapid. Of course, I think our parents probably though the same of our Saturday morning cartoons.

  2. LOL. I agree Doug, though... I don't have any kids. That was the best thing I could find for ME to watch on the TV that doesn't get all the channels. :)

  3. Good luck with that. Loved those 50's and 60's when the weirdest cartoons were by Bob Clampett.

  5. My daughter watches Spongebob constantly! I do find it amusing in small doses, but she has the episodes memorized! I loved Fractured Fairy Tales myself.

  10. Nicely written. I kind of got why it is funny. Liked the line about robbing mind. But I did not know about Spongebob. So I could not relate as closely as some of the others might have. Culture specific humor often fails to reach people of different culture.

  11. @Jinksy - Hooray! Your mind will thank you. :P

@The Fool - I'm immensely happy to know that Spongebob hasn't spread to all cultures. :)

@upinthecosmos - The old cartoons are so much fun. I wake up to them sometimes. It's awesome... except not enough Speedy Gonzalez. :)
